Just a month to go until my brand new festive novel, THE BEST CHRISTMAS EVER is out in the UK, US and Canada.
I love writing Christmas stories, not just because I love creating that cosy, festive feeling, but because there is so much scope to explore to explore the pressure that so often comes with the season (we writers love torturing our characters!).
At Christmas there is often a gap between expectation and reality. The pressure to produce the ‘perfect Christmas’ comes from everywhere, whether it’s the shops, social media, or movies where everyone lives in a twinkly winter wonderland populated by smiling people. We think we know what a perfect Christmas looks like, but how often does it turn out the way we hope it will? And how much stress and pressure comes from trying to curate the Christmas we think the people around us need and deserve?
In this story a group of strangers are forced to spend Christmas together after a severe storm derails their plans. All of them are forced to let go of their expectations for the festive season and instead have to improvise and adapt. In doing so they discover that what they thought was important, isn’t quite so important.
